Start of Lesson 1.
Obviously we want to use HTML features.
Here we use the same example text with 10-minute HTML added. We will learn with
this file. Type in HTML tags as we talk about each one. Save the changed text file.
RELOAD the browser to see what each tag does. Make experiments, one at a time.
This is only an exercise. Try everything you can think of. Add more text to
your pages. Have fun.
B, I, U - Bold, Italic, Underline
start and stop symbols are needed
Type this, start and stop
Heading, H1 (is big text) to H6 (is small text)
BReak = skip to next line. The brower will automatically wrap the text
as required by the page size of each reader's browser screen. This means
you do not have to preformat with "enter" for each long line.
Breaks do not need a stop tag. Two breaks means (1) go to the next
line, then (2) go to the next line. i.e. skip a line.
Once you have all the
lines done right, you can remove the
or move them to another part of your web page.
Horizontal Rule means draw a line across the page
PREformated. Show exactly as typed, including spaces and carriage returns (enter).
This looks just like a text file.
Note that PRE will accept spaces whereas HTML normally only allows one space.
Unordered List == indent or indent for a list
- Line Item = bulleted line of text.
Ordered List == indent to be ready to auto number the lines
- Line Item = same command (I seldom use this and use my own numbers.)
And now for the fancy stuff that makes HTML so good.

Bring this page to my browser. (Note : browsers bring a web page to you ;
you do not really go to a web page.)
Continue to make experiments, one at a time !
Save your file again, after each change.
Bring Browser to front and click ReLoad to see the results.
Repeat, again and again
You will notice the lessons are dotTXT, "myname.txt", files so that the will
show as words and not as HTML commands. You must be clear on what is text
and what are tags (commands).
Play with this for the next hour.
Tomorrow, we will spend five minutes in review and learn a couple more of new things.
